New Hair

Yes, I woke up on Saturday morning and spontaneously decided to go back to my old colour that I had March last year or whatever. I had the hair dye sitting in my wardrobe for the past 11 months or so.. so thought I would use it. Still not entirely sure if I like it or not. Time will tell I guess. One lady didn't even recognise me at church yesterday. Thought that was pretty funny haha. And I got asked today who the boy was. I'm sitting there thinking "whaaatttt??!!" hehe. Then I clicked. But that was a load of bullocks. Though I have once changed my hair colour because of a guy I liked. He was an emo, so I died it dark. But I was a silly little girl back then. Haha. I just felt like change, that's all. hehe. And change I got.

Also, I'm officially addicted to Gavin Mikhail. He is my new favourite. Well, technically, my old new favourite. He was my favourite about a year ago. His lyrics are so cool. And he plays the piano, which automatically makes him a winner. He should be your new favourite too.

How did i miss something?
When did you decide
In your heart
That we aren't
Worth the fight?
Though it's been awhile i'm finding
It hard to see your side
And i don't
Think you know
What that's like...

I know it's time i live my life without you
But even though i should let go and try... no...

I wonder where you are
Wonder what you need
Wonder why you mean so much to me
And after all this time
I still can't understand why
They say you're never coming back for me...

blogging

Yello.
I changed over to wordpress, and I didn't like it one bit. It's confusing.. so I am back here. I also realise I haven't blogged properly in many months. So I'm going to try change that as of next month (tomorrow). I was meant to be hitting the 365 posts this year. So much for that actually happening, unless I start doing about 5 posts a day for the rest of the year. Fat chance of that happening though.
By the way, I'm so excited. Theres this Capernwray 2010 facebook group that I joined. When I joined there was only one other person. I went back on there the other day just to have a look and it's up at like 15 now! And I was getting all these random friend requests, and had no idea who they were from. Turns out theyre all people going to Capernwray next year. One of them could be my future roommate. Oh it was so exciting. It got me all happy. Can't wait to meet them all. And and and as of Wednesday, theres only 5 more months! It's going so quickly. Part of me wants to just pack up and leave now.. but another part wants everything to slow down. Life is moving so quickly. Lightning speed.
Also, just expressing my love for my bosses right now. They happen to be the coolest people in the world. I love them so much.
Anyway, I shall leave you with this video:

Love

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another – John 13:34
But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you – Luke 6:27-28
Hard hard hard. Over this past week, the whole love your enemies verse has popped up numerous times. And I know exactly why too. Theres somebody in my life right now that I cannot stand. Every slight move they make honestly sends me up the wall. It shouldn’t because Love is not easily angered. I should have the patience to pray, and let God do the work. More often than not, I don’t.. But Love is Patient. When they insult me, I let my emotions get the best of me and take control, then think of all the other things they’ve done. I shouldn’t because Love keeps no record of wrong. Clearly that shows I don’t love them. I know HOW I should see the situation, and respond in the way that Jesus should, but it’s hard. And that’s my honest opinion.
We as humans are wired wanting vengeance when somebody hurts us or whatever. Distance. I have to learn that letting the anger settle is the right way to go before it results in things we regret and leading to sin. THEN comes the prayer. I’ve realised that loving that person isn’t going to happen over night. It’s going to require a whole bunch of self discipline, and prayer. But we’ve been commanded to do it.. and I want to. Otherwise what actions of mine are going to make me seem any different than a non-christian? Not a lot. I don’t deserve God’s love, but Our God is gracious, and I want to be too.
And whats my point? I actually don’t know. It’s just on my mind at the moment :)

My Testimony

I was talking to my friend last night and he planted an idea in my head, not that he knows, but it made me want to finally write out my testimony. So below is the shortened version. I’m too lazy to type it all up hehe. I guess that will come next year when I have to do it, seeing as it will be compulsory type thing! :)
I was born on 13 November 1989 (I just made it to be an 80’s kid!) into a lovely Christian family. For starters, my parents are amazing. I honestly couldn’t ask for better parents, or a better childhood for that matter. Very blessed! My birth wasn’t the most simple birth in the world. In fact, it was kinda complicated. I was born with a tumor. I would tell you what it is right now, but I don’t even know how to pronounce it, let alone try and type it. It starts with an S though, I know that much. Obviously, I don’t remember a single thing, but I know that I was in hospital for quite a while. Had operations and stuff, and people weren’t allowed to hold me as a baby. Then there was something to do with having a twin that didn’t form properly or something. Kinda wondering if I will meet my twin in heaven one day! :) (Also, I hear twins are hereditary. Whether that’s true or not don’t know. Though my grandfather is a twin, be cool to have twins of my own when I have children. Who knows.)
I grew up going to Church most Sundays, and then at the end of age 4, I starting going to a Christian School in the small town we lived in. I loved that school. Best school in the world in my opinion! Such a tight knit group, and I learnt so much. Not just educational maths and stuff, but like faith stuff as well. It was awesome. I became a Christian as a child, don’t really remember the exact age though. But as a child, I struggled with appearance due to the scarring my operation as a baby had left me with. It was kinda hard.
Skip forward like 8 years, and I’m now in high school! Out of my comfort zone, where I was no longer in the gentle nature of a Christian school. People didn’t like me for no reason, and I’ve noticed that that happens with everybody through life. Sucks really. In highschool I began to struggle more with my appearance than I ever did as a child. And getting called ugly and all these other things didn’t exactly make it any easier on me. Even one of my best friends said it to me. I hated the way that God had made me, and after all the things that people said to me, I used to look in the mirror, and I began to believe what they said was true, regardless of what it says in the Bible about being fearfully and wonderfully made. Right through high school, I never ever talked to anybody about my struggles, (I had a real thing with trust and didn’t trust anybody) and I later learnt that was a huge mistake, because I kept it bottled in for years.
Skip forward a few more years, and I was 16. And I went out with this guy. He was a Christian, but he did a lot of things that I didn’t agree with, and it resulted in me backsliding a LOT! The longer I was with him, the more I backslid, and the more I decided that I didn’t want Jesus in my life. I still went to Church and Youth group and stuff, but it felt pointless. I didn’t want to be there. I was kinda sweet with it though, because for the first time in my life, I felt like I was beautiful or something different. A guy that ‘loved’ me for who I was, but I was empty. I was unhappy. This guy didn’t treat me right at all and I hated that, but still, he was one of the people I cared for the most. I didn’t want to break up with him because he made me feel beautiful, not that he ever told me or anything. I just did.
Through this relationship, a few of my friends decided that they didn’t want to be friends with me anymore, because they didn’t like the guy. So much to my disgust, off they trotted. I always thought friends were meant to be there through the good and the bad. I was kind of hurt by that, but hey. After a year of being with him, he txt me after school one day, and dumped me. No reason given, then said some really horrible things to me, that still to this day I remember vividly. I cried myself to sleep for months on end, and had never felt so hideous in my life. From then on, I cut myself off from guys. The stuff he had said to me really really hurt, so I didn’t want anything to do with them after the horrible things so many of them had said to me. I thought they were all the same. This part of my life was the hardest part. I hated my life, and didn’t want to be alive. I thought nobody cared about me, I hated school because I had little friends (it was a tiny school as it was). I got along with everybody, but wouldn’t really call them friends, but eventually through this those friends that left me, decided they would come back (even though they weren’t even friends with each other anymore) but I had them back as friends anyway! :) Werhoo.
After a while though, I began to get my life back on track with God. I realised I needed Him. I was sick of being so down in the dumps everyday struggling without any sort of real hope. I wasn’t the same happy person I used to be. I was wasting my life away with things that weren’t important. It didn’t stop being a struggle though but if it wasn’t for Jesus, I don’t even know if I would be here right now. So I’m thankful. God never stopped loving me in that time though. A few months before my ex broke up with me, he put somebody else in my life. A friend. A friend that was different to my other friends. I friend I could actually trust. And a friend whose faith was strong! She was somebody I had known my entire life, but became close to at the perfect time. And I believe that was God’s hand on the situation because she helped me through that break up like no other. She let me open up to her, which I needed to do and told me the things that nobody else would dare tell me. I love you Davidda!! :) I moved forward every day after that, and thankful that God has taught me so so much through that experience. I also learnt that not all guys are complete scum, so I eventually got over that little escapade, and became friends with guys again.Back to appearance though. That still bothered me. I still struggled with it. The words people had said frustrated me and they played over in my mind as I saw those scars every day. I still struggle with it every now and then when people say stuff to me, but I’ve recently accepted that those scars make me who I am (took about 18 years to get to that point, but hey!) And though I have to keep reminding myself this every single day, I am Gods. I was made in His image, scars and all! :)
And this is about where I am up to in my life right now. God has shaped me into the person I am now, and I try to become more like Jesus everyday. He’s blessed me with a lot and I’m extremely thankful for everything He has done.

I'm a little more than useless

I was in Manna the other day, and was looking at some books. I got a bit bored so moved over to the magazine section. Anyway, I came across this magazine. And almost died. (Okay, well not even close, but you know what I mean.) One thing caught my attention, and it was the title of the mag. The title that I had planned to name my magazine! It had already been stolen! real. It took me ages to come up with that name. And it had meaning as well. Grrr. Now I have to think of something else… any ideas anybody?
Complete change of subject… “Sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you” Lieeess! I’ve had some pretty mean things said to me in my time (also on the happy side, some pretty lovely things as well!). Anyway, I sometimes wish I was immune to that sort of thing. Like not caring what people think or say kind of thing. It’s hard to just ignore it. And I think I’m the type of person who subconsciously lets it sit in my mind. Maybe because I’m sensitive? I don’t know. It’s very contradicting when both harmful things and uplifting things come from the same mouth.
James 3:9-12 “We use our tongues to praise our Lord and Father, but then we curse people, whom God made like himself. Praise and curse come from the same mouth! My brothers and sisters, this should not happen. Do good and bad water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree make olives, or can a grapevine make figs? No! And a well full of salty water cannot give good water”
I love those verses, and such a challenge to me as well. It reminds me of the saying my parents used to say to me and my brother and sister when we were little. “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” And that’s true too. What good is going to come out of saying hurtful things to somebody? I know that Jesus got called a lot of names in His time, and I’m curious as to how He handled that. How He not let it mess with His mind. And how He just put it behind Him. Then again, He also got a lot of praise, and was never bigheaded or anything. I actually have no idea what point I’m trying to put across, but I just have stuff on my mind. And I think I might leave it there.
Mel :)
Oh and by the way, the title has nothing to do with anything, I just really wanted to use it. The ‘more than useless’ song by Relient K has been dancing around my head all day today, so that’s where that came from.

Shallowness

I'm currently reading a book called "Mixed Bags" and it really got me thinking. It's a Christian book. Well, supposedly a Christian book, you could never tell. It was full of shallowness. And this annoyed me. Shallowness. Always been something that frustrates me to pieces, like the way some guys (and yes, some! I've come to the realisation that not all guys are the same haha. Took a while to get to that point though I must admit hehe) talk about girls like they're pieces of meat or something. It just annoys me. The word 'hot' for for one is flung around this world everyday, between both guys and girls, Christian and non-christian. And to be honest, all my friends use it, and that drives me mad. I'm probably like the only one you know who gets annoyed with this too. All shout "weiirrddo" hehe. I don't know why it annoys me, but it does. I like to think of myself as one that looks at the heart, and I know at times, beauty attracts. But it only captures the eye, personality captures the heart. That might sound cheesy yeah, but its actually true. Beauty can be lost in a flash. Car accidents or whatever. Kay so maybe I have a strong opinion on this because of what I was born with (long story, maybe one day I will write about it??) and know that through all my scars (and yes, after struggling with appearance for years, I'm now proud to say that those scars makes me me!) a guy could never find me 'hot' as such. I don't know. And I don't even know what I'm getting at. I used to ask myself all the time why God made me how I was, and I really had to remember (still do) that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. God made me just how he wanted. He knitted me together. And yeah, I might never find a guy that can actually fully accept me through my body, but to be blunt, they wouldn't be worth my time anyway. Seems to me that now-a-days people 'judge a book by it's cover' in terms of other people. Wrinkly skin is a thing with age, and they re not always going to have the perfect figure. If it's just based on looks, how far is that going to get them? Makes me wonder if this plays even a little in the increasing divorce rate in NZ. Who knows? Infuriating really, but yeah. That's my piece. Mumbled jumbled thoughts if anything.

Somethings are just meant to be kept a secret :/
